In the autumn of 1991, Rev. Will Saunders included this message in one of his monthly reports to the Board of Trustees:
“Now, There is one matter that needs attention immediately. The beginning of the Church year is a time when visitors are trying out the Church. They need TLC. I do not feel that we were prepared for them on September 1. I don’t want to sound grumpy, but I saw old friends talking together before the service while visitors and guests with small children were wandering around and hovering in the corner of the coffee lounge. We weren’t ready for them. All our best intentions can fall flat if we’re late to Church and don’t greet visitors warmly. This is not just of the job of the few who sign up – it is everybody’s job. Please let’s arrive at Church early enough to attend to our responsibilities, greet our friends and then be ready for whomever else may arrive. Thank you.”
